Happy 2023 people! First and foremost, thank you for being patient with me during my absence. I took a longer-than-anticipated hiatus because my mother-in-law recently got very ill in addition to the holidays and we were under a lot of stress in the McKinney household. The dust is settling, and we’re returning to regularly scheduled programming.
Let’s get back to it.
The Golden Globes Come Back With a Bang
Last night, the 80th Annual Golden Globes aired on NBC after two consecutive scandal-ridden years. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which hosts the Golden Globes, is a group of LA-based journalists from various publications.
This group very, very recently (as in 2021) was exposed by The L.A. Times for not having a single Black member. That being said, nearly everyone boycotted the event last year, and this year, there was a very tangible awkwardness in the air that permeated the screen. Jerrod Carmicheal split sides with edgy racial commentary and some jaw-dropping Scientology references.
Austin Butler, who earned himself Best Actor in a Drama is still doing his Elvis voice, which is starting to get out of hand. It feels like it’s been too long and it no longer makes sense.
Jennifer Coolidge arguably stole the show with her lovable insanity during her presentation of Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series, but was perhaps even more lovable when she accepted her own award and made The White Lotus’ creator, Mike White, cry.

The evening was utter chaos in every way. The actress who played young Rhaenyra on HBO’s House of the Dragon, Milly Alcock, was clearly hammered, Eddie Murphy teased Will Smith’s Oscar Slap, and Quinta Brunson shouted out Brad Pitt in the middle of her acceptance speech. Overall, it seemed like a hell of a night, and I wish I was there.

Kylie & Travis Scott Broke Up
The baby KarJenner and Mr. Astroworld himself have broken up once again, and according to PEOPLE, someone close to them claims this is probably not permanent.
The internet has been tweeting about Pete Davidson possibly swooping in after his recent split from Emrata, which would not be the first time the Kardashian women swapped men. Did you know Kim dated Travis Barker back in 2007?
